How to pick up every detail when listening to Japanese?

I can pick up what someone is talking about the first time around but I can’t seem to pick up the details of what the speaker is talking about regardless how many times they repeat it. What should I do?
This is more of a real life thing / for Jap test.
I seem to be fine when I’m listening to music or watching a drama.
If you understand spoken Japanese used in TV dramas, I assume your Japanese has already reached an advanced level.
If you still have trouble picking up details, there is probably a reason for it. Possible reasons are:
(1) Native speakers sometimes use broken grammar which sounds natural to native speakers but not to foreigners
(2) There are many dialects (or sometimes idiolect) depending on the place the speaker lives or the group he belongs to.
(3) Colloquial Japanese often abbreviates or even omits some sound, which sometimes makes it sound like another word
(4) Native speakers use slang or fad words/phrases often used by TV celebrities or commedians
Actually, I also encounter simlar problems while listening to English (I am Japanese, and English is a foreign language for me)
The best solution, I believe, is to ask the speaker to repeat it and explain the meaning of it.
If you do not have a chance to ask, another solution is to expose yourself to different types of Japanese through a wide variety of TV/radio programs including news, commedy etc.
